Credit Unions Are Different, and Here’s Why That’s Good for You

Like most financial institutions, SnoCope CU offers loans, checking accounts, savings accounts, online banking, and other services you need. But as a credit union, we’re structured differently, and that’s where you benefit even more.

Credit unions are the only financial institutions that are not-for-profit cooperatives. We don’t answer to Wall Street stockholders pushing to make big profits. We answer to you. You’re a member of our cooperative, not a number. That means we return earnings after expenses right back to you, often in the form of lower fees and loan rates than for-profit financial institutions charge. You typically earn more interest on your savings accounts. That’s more money in your pocket. (Click here for more savings info.)

As a member of SnoCope CU you have a voice in what we do. Our volunteer Board of Directors consists of members who are elected by the other members to serve. That’s an important part of our cooperative model. Your voice. Your credit union.

Another important cooperative principle is community impact. We offer free financial education to help you manage your money. See our website for “Balance: Webinars, Resources, Counseling” and stay tuned to our website for the 2019 Financial Wellness Seminar schedule. Remember, these seminars are free!

We’re local, so we invest in the community. We just finished our fundraising efforts for the last quarter of 2018.

  • We raised $1,316 in the Strides Against Breast Cancer as we walked through Everett in October.
  • We donated food and funds to the YWCA Pathways for Women Emergency Shelter. We gathered $200 in groceries and handed over a check for $399.80 in November.
  • We raised $106 and collected about $250 in gifts for the Christmas House Toy Drive.
  • As part of the YWCA’s Adopt-A-Family program, SnoCope CU and staff purchased and wrapped $675 in presents and included a $150 grocery gift card - making it a very, very, merry Christmas for a family of five.

SnoCope CU is proud to be your financial services and community partner. We want you to invite your friends to share in the benefits of membership. Need a great financial partner? Like the way we way we positively impact our community? (Click here for member info.)
